Success Stories

Hey, my lovelies, how are you all doing? It is good to have you back here! I am always grateful for each and every one of you. How was last week’s post? Were you blessed? I, on the other hand, was tremendously blessed. I like hearing people’s stories; they are encouraging, and they can add fire to your own journey.  I really thank Praise for sharing with us last week. Now if you are reading this for the first time, I welcome you to the family, we have been on a purpose journey for five weeks, this week making it the sixth whoosh! it has been amazing! These last weeks of the series we have guests who will be sharing their story with us and Praise shared her story on the wilderness season. You can check it out HERE! and while you are at it, why not catch up on the other articles in this series.

Today, I have another special guest on the blog whoop whoop! I haven’t known her for long but in the short space that I have, I have learnt a lot.  Our guest today is Debola Salako- Kupoluyi also known as DSK, she is an author of the book FREE, a book that tells the stories of women that were abused at childhood and their journey to healing and freedom! This book is one to read, I was privileged to attend the book launch and I must say I cried throughout the launch party just listening to the women as they shared their stories. If you want to check the book out, you can do so by clicking HERE.

I believe you will be blessed as you read DSKs story on her journey to purpose, she will be sharing on her wilderness and growth seasons so sit back get a hot drink and enjoy!

My season of restlessness

My name is Debola Salako -Kupoluyi, people call me DSK for short, I remember Q4 of 2018 I started having a significant level of restlessness. I did not know what it was but clearly, I sensed something was off. My career was going on well and if you looked at me with the lens of the world, I had it all together. But I could see myself even though the world really couldn’t, so I knew something was just not adding up. The restlessness was clearly spiritual. It was clear God was calling me to deep. My wilderness season was more of a restlessness rather than a silence.

While I was going through this restlessness, I honestly won’t say I immediately sought the face of God on how to address this, but I knew I started yearning for more knowledge as it relates to my spiritual life, my purpose and how to please God in my current state. Hence, I signed up for a mentorship session in December of that same year. This is a session I had applied for in December 2017 and when I was told the cost I waved it aside because I thought to pay that much for a day mentorship was too much. I guess I wasn’t yearning for more then, because I paid the same value without thinking twice in 2018. This is where my journey to God calling me into deep began. I believe my posture was more of Lord I want more of you and that was exactly where he led me.

Psalm 37 vs 23 (KJV)

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

Let me state that I am still work in progress, but I do not give up! I keep at it. The first challenge is that of self-doubt for me. The voice in my head telling me I am wasting my time, or I cannot amount to what God has said I am. Even as I type it is still there. But I do not let it bother me I just show up like I am doing now to share my experience even while recuperating. I believe that the first most significant step is for you to show up with your best self.

Second, for me is not having an effective life system. This is something I am still working on, and one thing that has helped me on this is God giving me very tight deadlines. Lol. This puts me under the required pressure to deliver. Lisa also mentioned having a working schedule in her blog post “HOW TO MAXIMISE YOUR TIME IN THIS SEASON”. This Is very useful as well.

My growth season

I am currently in my growth season and it has been stretching, humbling and enjoyable. One thing I have realised is the more open we are to the Lord about our weaknesses as well as our desire for more, the more He shows us what is possible. I have been stretched the last one year but this has built my dexterity and Abba keeps saying unto the next one because there is so much work to do. I am able to execute projects and also working on my radical evolution in Christ. Sometimes, I feel that I am not good enough, like I am not even pulling my weight enough but like I said I am showing up and leaning completely on the wings of grace.

I knew I had transitioned from my restless season into my growth season when I started to realise that I had the ability to do more. Prior to now, I was fixated on my career but now I am doing so much more within the same 24hrs allotted in a day. I am able to navigate an active mentoring circle, a bible school, writing a book, running a foundation, championing the cause of an International Women organization and also being a wife without dropping any ball by His grace. My response in this season is showing gratitude, being joyful and remaining humble.

  1. Gratitude

I acknowledge His grace upon my life, and I am willing to multiply it in that sense

Mathew 25 :20-21

“And so, he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

2. Joy

I am forever joyful

Isaiah 12 vs 3 (KJV)

“Therefore, with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation”

3. Humility

Lord here I am use me

2 Corinthians 12 vs 9 (KJV)

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness”

I have definitely experienced opposition in this growth season. The devil will fight you because your growth season is to his own disfavour. It means you are alert to all your possibilities and potentials as a child of God. So, you need to be ready and discerning. Purpose is indeed a marathon and not a sprint. Let yourself breathe, be deliberate, take it a step at a time and let God do the rest

Also, don’t forget to celebrate your seemingly little wins; that singular act will encourage you to forge ahead.

Thank you for this opportunity to share.
