The Journey to Purpose Part One

Hey, my lovelies, how is everyone keeping? Thank you for your support I really appreciate it, it encourages me to continue to write.  Last post we spoke about time management and creating effective life systems. I hope you transferred that knowledge into action and went ahead to create your own life system. If you did, how has it been working for you so far? Has it made a difference? How do you feel?  And if you are reading this for the first time and you are wondering what a life system is, I encourage you to read the previous post on HOW TO MAXIMISE YOUR TIME.  I assure you; you will thank me later.  Right let’s dive right in.

Have you ever been in a place in your life where you think nothing is happening? Everything is just quiet, no major moves, no business ideas, no exciting career etc. You look around you and it seems like everyone else is doing something big or living their best life except you! yeah, I know, we have all been there! If you are at this point in your life, I just want to encourage you to take heart, everything is going to be just fine. I want to help you navigate this season correctly. Yes correctly, how you respond to this season will determine how you come out of it.  But firstly, we must understand the season we are in.  some call it the silent season, some the wilderness and some well, the quiet season. For the sake of this series we are going to call it the ploughing season.  But before we go into this, I am sure you want to know why you found yourself in this phase.

Reasons you find yourself in the ploughing season

1.God is calling you unto himself! Basically.

When you find yourself in this season of ploughing, its most likely that God is calling you to himself! He is calling you to intimacy and relationship. God is trying to get you in a place where you completely depend on him! and redefine your identity in Christ. Some of us have made idols of our jobs, marriages, children, businesses, etc without even knowing it. Our identities are in these things! For example, if someone asked you today, who are you? what will you say? I want you to answer this question with all honesty in your heart. You will find that most of us will give an answer based on what we do, for instance you could say ‘I am the CEO of so and so company’. You see! So, God wants you to know who you are in Him by drawing you to his word and to a place of fellowship with Him.

2. God wants to nourish you.

Yes! God wants to nourish you for what is ahead because the truth is this, brothers and sisters, this season will not always last, however, how quickly you come out of it depends on how your respond to it (We will look at this in part two of this series). I want us to look at 1 Kings 19 where Elijah the prophet was in the wilderness pouring out his heart to God, asking Him to take his life…

Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep.

All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.

The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he travelled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

Elijah was about to give up! he entered a low in his life, but God had other plans for him. He sent an angel to give him food so that he could be strengthened for the journey (the phase after the wilderness). God has provision for you that will take you through the journey that is ahead.

3. God wants to plant a divine vision in you

In this season God also wants to plant a new divine vision or assignment in you! (this is why you need that nourishment) but he needs to till the ground, fertilise it and make it ready to receive the seeds (ploughing! It’s all making sense right lol). For seeds to germinate and start to grow to a point of producing fruits the ground has to be prepared, it has to be good soil. Let us quickly look at the parable of the sower that our Lord Jesus Christ shared in Matthew 13:1-8

A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.’

You can only produce fruit if your soil is good! So, this leads me to another question? What is the state of your heart? Now, after answering that question you begin to see why God might call you to himself?! He wants to work on you and in you, He wants to bring you back to His original plan- Glory to God.  For you to carry out that divine assignment or vision that God has predestined, you have to become the person for that assignment! God has to work on your heart, on your priorities, and restore your identity so that you can become the person fit to carry out that divine vision!

Now that you sort of know the why, it will probably put you at ease, well, I hope.  in part two of this series we will be talking about how you can respond to this season correctly so that you can be all that God wants you to be! I hope you were blessed, see you soon.

Love always Lisa Maxwell
